General Studies

Subject Objectives:

1. Optimise the school-based curriculum and enhance students’ high-order thinking and self-learning skills.
2. Cultivate students’ inquiry skills, creativity, and study skills to develop their abilities of ‘learning to learn’.
3. Cultivate students’ passion towards life and attention on social issues to develop their responsibilities of being citizens.

Curriculum Features:

1. Promote STEM education to intensify value education and facilitate students’ integrated use of the generic skills.
2. Proceed to self-directed learning with diversified teaching strategies such as inquiry-based learning which helps students to deepen their learning.
3. Provide diversified learning opportunities, for instance, project learning, designing STEM portfolios, and inquiry-based learning.
4. Establish students’ positive values and attitude and strengthen their emotional developments and recognition of national identity through discussions and analysis of life events.
5. Induce students’ learning interest and construct knowledge by conducting inquiry and problem-solving activities. Students will be able to confront challenges with perseverance and raise creative suggestions.
6. Provide more opportunities of scientific-inquiry and investigating through STEM activities to students who own strong interest towards science in the GS elite class.
